About

I was born in Santa Cruz and raised in beautiful Hope Valley, CA in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. I grew up exploring the mountains and riding horses at rustic Sorensen’s Resort, which my parents, John and Patty, have turned into an amazing place. Growing up in such a rural locale without a TV gave my sister, Beth, and I the gift of imagination, a great sense of humor and a spirited work ethic. During high school I encountered dance (The Academy of Dance Arts) and photography. I went on in college to study photography, sculpture, video, installation, conceptual and performance art at the San Francisco Art Institute and Portland State University. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Fine Art Sculpture in 2005.

I am a dancer, which I have recently re-discovered after a 10+ year hiatus, thank you Vega Dance + Lab! I studied Ballet, Jazz and Lyrical in my teens and now mostly do burlesque, although I also do some jazz and hip hop when I have time. I am an artist, my work is currently in a dormant state, but due to re-emerge any minute now! My previous, most current work has been in plaster, video installation, and performance. It explores the nature of feminism, domesticity and the environment and the media’s impact on all three. I have a (not so secret) love affair with food carts, maps, and shipping container houses. I also harbor an addiction to sushi and an interest in nutrition.

I am happily married to PJ Portlock; we’ve known each other for a long time now. He is the founder of Prolabro, an eco-friendly design and print studio. He is also the founder of Bridgetown Breaks, a record label specializing in recording drum breaks by talented local drummers. PJ doesn’t even know how inspiring he is to me, plus he’s really funny. I love that guy.

I’ve held positions ranging from waiting tables in a high-end sushi restaurant and front desk hospitality services to childcare and retail sales associate to construction coordinator and graphic design production manager. My breadth of experience gives me the ability to feel confident in most any situation and my fine art background assures my problem solving skills.

From 2005 to 2008 I was a project coordinator at Green Hammer Building Contractors. I was fortunate to intern with notorious architect Matthew McCune at McCune Design from 2007 to 2008. Most recently I was the traffic/production manager at happylucky design, a print and graphic design house. For a more detailed description of my work please see my resume.

I am currently looking for opportunities with architecture or design firms, preferably as creative team support, project coordination, or account manager.
